Make-up Routine

Hello Lovelies!

I thought I’d do a ‘Make-Up Routine’ because I always find these really helpful & I don’t use a lot of high end products, all of my make-up is drugstore other than the Naked 2 Palette and I thought this would be good because all of the products are affordable and easy to find for you guys with no pressure to go and spend loads of dolla dolla.

*WARNING- I may ramble… (It’s a talent)

1.       The first thing I do before I start my make-up is wash my face. Even if I’ve taken off all my make-up the night before I still find when I wake up in the morning that there’s random black smudges under my eyes & some foundations blobs. I don’t use anything fancy to take my make-up off, just some face wipes and then I wash my face and moisturise. If I’m having a bit of a pamper evening I will sometimes use my Simple cleanser and toner after washing my face but most evenings after work I just want to dive into bed!

2.       After I’ve washed my face and made sure all remaining make-up is OFF my face I’ll put one of those beautiful bands you wore when you were 6 that made your fringe stick on end when you take it off.  I then moisturise using my Garnier Moisture Match Matte moisturiser for combination skin. I find this perfect as I don’t like using really oily moisturiser because it makes my skin all icky and it sinks in really quickly.

3.       Once the moisturiser has sunk in I use my Collection Lasting perfection concealer. I Put it on any spots/blemishes, either side of my nose under my eyes and on my chin. I use my pointed foundation brush from real techniques to blend it in.

4.       Then I get my Rimmel Match Perfection foundation. Now I’ve used various foundations since I was about 14 but this one has definitely been my favourite, it’s the only one I’ve repurchased (3 times) and I love it. I know I haven’t tried ones like Mac and Nars but I’m a bit of a spenda-phobe when it comes to spending £30 on a foundation! I put a bit of foundation on each cheek, on my nose, chin and forehead then blend it in using my real techniques expert face brush. I know these brushes are fairly pricey but I would highly recommend them, they’re the best brushes I’ve ever used and give very good coverage. If you are a first time real techniques buyer i highly reccomend the core collection & the expert face brush.

5.       I then take my Rimmel Natural bronzer and my real techniques contour brush or my Jack Wills powder brush & contour under my cheekbones and blend up the side of my face, a new trick I’ve also learnt is putting a little bit of bronzer up both sides of your nose. Don’t ask me why, it just looks good ;)

6.  Next is a recent purchase- MUAundress your skin’ highlighter which I put on top of my cheek bones, under my eyes and down the middle of my nose. I actually really like this, and because it's from the MUA range it was of course a bargain at £3. I was looking for a powder highlighter as opposed to a cream because I feel concealer, & foundation clogs you up enough without more creams on top!

  7.       Then the best bit! I use my favourite makeup product of all time, the Rimmel Stay matte powder in ‘001 Transparent’ which is absolutely perfect for getting rid of any shininess and setting your make up- I normally use a random big powder brush I bought from amazon but I sometimes use real techniques powder brush although I find that's better for contour or blusher.

8.       Brow time! I use a brow kit I actually got from Tesco because I couldn’t find one anywhere and I’m not sure of the brand but they sell them in most make up lines now. I use an eyebrow brush first to shape them (the one that looks like a mini toilet brush- I don’t know the technical name sorry) then I use my Jack Wills angled brush and use the wax first then the darkest shade to shape them and fill them in

9.       Onto eyes- another new product I’ve started using is the Maybelline colour tattoos. I have the Gold Shimmer and Inked in Pink. The gold shimmer is my favourite and acts as a really good base for if you want to add another powder eye shadow on top, especially if you’re going out you can turn it into a really bold eye look.

My current fave eye shadow is the Naked 2 Palette but I also love the MUA palettes, they’re really good dupes for the Naked Palettes, really pigmented and they’re only £4! I have the undressed palette and the Heaven and Earth palette. The Heaven and Earth is a perfect dupe for Naked 2. Recently my favourite eye look is the Gold Shimmer colour tattoo as a base, then a champagne colour from which ever palette you like, a darker gold tone over the outer half of the eye then a darker brown/gold shade in the crease.

10.   I always curl my eye lashes because if I don’t they look really flat despite if I use mascara or not! I use pencil kohl liner on my bottom lid and the collection extreme 24 hour felt tip liner on the top. By far my favourite eyeliner. I never got on with liquid liner as I found it really wet and sticky and I would end up with it on the top of my eyelid by the end of the day!  This one I must have repurchased about 10 times, I absolutely love it, I use it every day and it lasts for ages. The first thing I do is draw on a thin line starting from the inner corner of my eye. If I’m going out or to an event or something I’ll usually make it thicker to give my eyes more oomph. I then draw a flick, starting from the end of the flick and bringing it back into my eye, I usually start it quite high up because when you open your eye again if it’s too low you either can’t see it or it looks like a straight line! Then I use my Rimmel volume flash mascara.

Another product I’ve purchased is 17 VAVA VOOM mascara if you wanted to try something different.

I’ve always been very fussy with mascara, I don’t like anything that makes my lashes look too clumpy and separated but I also don’t like anything that doesn’t make them look any different. I like bold but not ‘false’ looking (I did warn you about rambling) I normally use a mascara until its gone then find a new one because I find it really hard to find one I REALLY like. But this one is really good! The shape of the brush means it’s really easy to apply and not get everywhere and it gets ALL of the lashes without it being overly curved- those ones are just annoying (sorry my technical terms aren’t great) I also really like the

11.   Now lips, I admit I’m a bit of a lipstick fanatic, I am yet to buy a mac lipstick but that’s mainly because they’re all so lovely and I don’t know which one to choose/if I spend £15 on a lipstick it probably won’t be the only one I want to buy and that £15 will turn into £150…
My current faves are, Rimmel Kate Moss 107 & 101 but all of that range are lovely and I do have most of them (insert monkey covering eyes emoji).

Sorry for my rambles, that is one thing I’m good at! I like to type as I think really so it’s like word vomit, not actual vomit. (Quote mean girls) I actually really enjoyed this blog post, I’ve wanted to do something different for a long time and I keep getting urges to write long posts without actually knowing what to write about, which I guess is where blogging came in! If you have any blogging suggestions I’d really like to know…

Thank you lovelies,
Love Evie x x x
