Hello Lovelies,
I've been planning on writing a 'New Years resolution' post for SO long, but I keep forgetting and deciding on writing other ones! So today's post, (although its halfway through January) will be my
NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS
I'm not a 'New Year New Me' person, I think that if you really wanted to change something you would do it regardless of the day/month/year, however saying that, a new year kind of is like a new leaf, its a completely new chapter of your life, a fresh start and I aim to take this opportunity to try and achieve some goals this year!
1. Get a place and start university! I am technically two years late for what the 'normal' start time for university entry would be. I did an extra year of school & I also had a gap year - which I'm on now- I simply wasn't ready for university last year. I started my personal statement and application process 3 times and ended up deleting it. I am now however ready to go to uni and i am incredibly excited!
2. Read more. Seems slightly cliche as when writing goals most people say reading more, but i used to love reading, I got through a book a week sometimes and I miss it, I've hugely neglected books as a result of technology and I feel terrible! I'm not going to have an aim to read a certain amount of books in a certain amount of time because I want to enjoy it and not stress over having to finish one! My favourite authors are Torey Hayden, Cathy Glass, Jodie Picoult Cecelia Ahern. (If you have any suggestions do let me know in the comments!)
3. Eat and drink more healthily. cliche i know, But I don't just mean drinking water and eating salad, I mean listening to my body and being kinder to it. I mean regular exercise but not excessive, I mean 3 healthy meals a day and a healthy mindset towards food. I am a Pepsi max addict and although its low in calories i know its terrible for me, that's something I definitely need to cut down on!
4. Spend more time with people I love. I need to make more effort to see people regularly and keep in contact with people I want in my life. I know this is massively a two way thing but I am guilty of forgetting to reply to texts or facebook messages and for not making the effort to meet up with people. which defo needs to change
5. Do more simple things that make me happy. I need to focus on the less materialistic things and stop spending my days inside stuck to a TV laptop or iPad etc. I need to take myself out on walks to see the beautiful countryside I live in. I need to plan activities which involve me and friends/family being out in the fresh air for a long time. If somethings not making me happy, either change it or don't do it, I need to stop worrying about things and just relax and enjoy life!
6. Improve my Instagram and my blog. I know this is a tad contradicting after my last post but blogging is something I am really enjoying, and it's something I'd like to get better at and make a more regular thing!
7. Learn a new skill I have had a guitar for over a year now and I still can't play it :( Playing the guitar is something I've wanted to be able to do for ages and my lovely mum bought be one for Christmas last year and all I've got round to doing is tuning it! - rubbish i know! If anyone has any tips on how to self teach yourself guitar let me know! I'm also currently learning to drive so to pass my test (hopefully by summer) is also a goal!
8. Do something good About 3 years ago I started raising money for the S.A.N.D.S charity with an aim of £1000. Since leaving school I am still yet to reach my goal (although have achieved half of it) I'd really like to pick it back up as GCSE's & A Levels got in the way but now I am free of them I'd really like to crack on!
Hope you enjoyed reading,
Lots of Love
