Hello Lovelies,
Today I thought I'd do a post about some of the things I've been doing recently in order to become healthier and happier, I think this is very important as we all often forget to look after ourselves in the ways which matter most.
Yoga: One of the biggest things I've found recently is that doing gentle calming exercise such as Yoga really improves my mood, it completely calms me down if I'm feeling stressed or anxious and it clears your head. I always used to things things like this and meditation were a bit silly the idea of meditating or taking time to focus on your mind was very weird and spiritual but I've come to realise that looking after your mind is just as important as looking after your body. I have a couple of Yoga DVD's and I also use youtube, my favourite on youtube is Yoga with Adriene She has some really good routines targeting different areas and she also has recently done '30 Days of Yoga' which I'm excited to try. With yoga you don't really need much, I bought myself a yoga mat because I have wooden floors and that would be a bit ouchie! And Primark have some amazing fitness stuff and it's so cheap.
Smoothies and Juices: The second thing I've changed is how much fruit veg and water I consume, I am terrible for drinking a load of diet fizzy drinks, Pepsi Max is my weakness. I drink loads of tea and loads of squash too but I rarely drink pure water. For my birthday I received a 'Breville Blend active' which is so good! I have now started making smoothies or juices everyday, either for breakfast or a snack. You can pack smoothies full of fruit, veg, yogurt and water. I'll share with you my favourite recipe and the easiest to make. I also received a juice and smoothie recipe book so i'll be trying lots out soon!
The first thing I do when making a smoothie is chop up a banana! Bananas are one of my favourite fruits and they thicken smoothies up and they go with most other flavours, Just chop it into pieces and pop it in the blender.
The next thing I do is grab some frozen fruit. Frozen berries are my favourite but I've recently been loving frozen grapes, Im not so keen on eating them frozen as they feel really strange but they taste fab in smoothies and juices.
I then pop in a couple of spoonfuls of low fat yogurt - as you can tell my measurements are never precise, I'm still trying to get a perfect texture. You can use any yogurt you want but this is the difference between a juice and a smoothie, I like this one because there is no flavouring to the yogurt so it goes with all fruits. I also like that it's low fat because it makes the smoothie uber healthy!
I then add a bit of juice to make it thinner, I like to add apple juice but cranberry juice is also good and so is orange juice- it really depends on the flavour smoothie you're making. I tend to pour this on top until I think it's enough - so you haven't drowned the fruit, I also add some ice to make it really cold and refreshing.
Wise Words: Another part of looking after yourself is reminding yourself to smile, that things will be ok. I fell in love with Pinterest I've created a board of quotes and sayings that make me smile, and I love to look through them. I think another lovely idea is to print some off and stick them on a pinboard or make a scrap book of them. I'll leave you with some of my favourites.
I found the most lovely post from Louise, from Sprinkle of Glitter you should give it a read - Happy
Thanks for reading
Lots of Love
